Inside Shopify Enterprise: What It Costs, What You Get & Who Uses It
What Shopify enterprise is, how Shopify Plus compares with Advanced and Commerce Components, the 12 Plus features we use on live client stores, and what running Plus really costs.

craftberry is the Shopify Plus agency behind enterprise brands such as vivo, a top-five global smartphone brand, On Running, Shelly, a global IoT brand selling in 100+ markets, and Pepper.
As a Shopify Premier Partner with 800+ projects since 2015, we hear the same three questions from enterprise teams before they sign with Shopify: which tier do we need, what do we get with Plus, and what will it really cost?
This guide answers all three with Shopify's current fees, the Plus features we use on live client stores and the build costs we see in our projects.
Key takeaways
- Two enterprise tiers. Shopify Plus is a published plan from $2,300/month (3-year term) or $2,500/month (1-year term). Shopify for enterprise (Commerce Components) is a custom contract with no public price.
- Plus is enough for most brands. It covers multi-market, B2B, headless and up to 9 expansion stores. Enterprise is only needed for contractual SLAs, very high checkout throughput, hundreds of POS locations or using Shopify components on top of another platform.
- Checkout and Functions are the main reason to pay for Plus. Full checkout customization, Shopify Functions, unlimited B2B catalogs and Combined Listings are Plus-only.
- Shopify takes $2.55 from a $100 sale on Plus (2.25% + 30¢ with Shopify Payments), compared with $2.80 on Advanced and $3.20 on Basic.
- The build costs more than the plan. Expect the platform fee plus build or migration, apps, integrations and ongoing development, from $2,000/month for a Shopify support retainer.
- Upgrade only when you need a Plus-only feature or your volume makes the lower card rates pay for the plan. Otherwise, Advanced at $299/month is the better deal.
What is Shopify for enterprise?
Shopify for enterprise is Shopify's offer for large brands, and it comes in two tiers: Shopify Plus, a plan from $2,300 per month, and the Enterprise tier built on Commerce Components, a custom contract with SLAs and modular parts. Most brands that say "enterprise Shopify" mean Shopify Plus.
The two tiers share the same platform, checkout and app ecosystem. The difference is the contract: Plus is a standard plan with published fees, while Enterprise adds guaranteed capacity, a technical account manager and the option to use only some Shopify components (for example, checkout or Shop Pay) on top of your existing stack.
Is Shopify an enterprise platform?
Yes, Shopify is an enterprise platform: Gartner named it a Leader in the 2026 Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce Platforms, the fourth year in a row, and brands such as Gymshark, ALDO, Spanx and Everlane run on it. The old view of Shopify as a tool for small stores no longer matches the product.
What makes it enterprise-grade is four things together: a checkout tested at peak load, native B2B and multi-store tools, open APIs for ERP, PIM and OMS, and a fully managed SaaS model, so your team never patches servers or plans upgrades. Shopify reports that its total cost of ownership is 33% lower on average than competing platforms.
Where Shopify still asks for workarounds is deep backend control. Complex quoting, ERP-driven pricing and approval chains often need custom apps built on Shopify Functions.
What is Shopify Plus?
Shopify Plus is Shopify's enterprise plan for high-volume brands, priced from $2,300 per month on a 3-year term. It adds full checkout customization, Shopify Functions, unlimited B2B catalogs, up to 9 expansion stores, unlimited staff and priority support to everything in the standard plans.
Plus is the default answer for most brands with $1M+ in yearly online revenue that have outgrown Advanced. You keep the same admin and apps, so moving up from Advanced is an upgrade, not a migration. We cover the full difference in our Shopify vs Shopify Plus guide.
What are Shopify Commerce Components?
Shopify Commerce Components is Shopify's modular enterprise offer: you buy the whole platform under an enterprise contract, or only the parts you need, such as checkout and cart, Shop Pay or a storefront component, and plug them into your existing stack.
Shopify describes it as "a modular packaging of Shopify's infrastructure, APIs, services, and support" on its Help Center.
Shopify now sells it as Shopify for enterprise with two ways to buy:
- Full platform. All of Plus, plus SLAs on checkout and Storefront API availability, up to 40,000 checkout starts per minute, higher GraphQL Admin API limits, unlimited POS Pro locations, a customizable admin, a technical account manager and launch support from Shopify Professional Services.
- Modular. Single components on your current platform: Shop Pay, the checkout and cart component, or the storefront component with your own framework and hosting.
Commerce Components is a narrow fit. It suits retailers that cannot replace a large legacy stack in one go, or that need contractual uptime and throughput guarantees. For most brands we talk to, Plus covers the same needs at a known price.
Shopify Advanced vs Plus vs Enterprise: what is the difference?
Shopify Advanced is the top self-serve plan at $299/month, Shopify Plus is the enterprise plan from $2,300/month, and Shopify for enterprise (Commerce Components) is a custom contract above Plus with SLAs and modular components.
The table below compares them on the points enterprise teams ask about most.
Fees and limits come from Shopify's pricing page, the Shopify Plus plan page and the Shopify for enterprise page, checked on 29 October 2026.

What features do you get with Shopify Plus?
Shopify Plus adds 12 capabilities that standard plans either lack or cap: full checkout customization, Shopify Functions, expansion stores, unlimited B2B catalogs, higher API limits, Combined Listings, Shopify Flow, Launchpad, up to 25 headless storefronts, 200 inventory locations, unlimited staff and priority support.
The table shows what each one does and where we have used it on a live client store.

Three things we tell every enterprise prospect about this list:
- Checkout and Functions are the main reason to pay for Plus. If your discount, shipping or payment rules are standard, Advanced may be enough.
- Combined Listings is underrated. It is Plus-only, and for brands with many color or gender variants it cleans up collections and SEO in one step.
- Headless is not a Plus requirement. We moved Carpet Warehouse from a headless setup on Vercel back to native Shopify Plus, and LCP improved 55% while conversion rose 8%. Headless pays off only with sub-second speed targets, highly interactive experiences or several storefronts on one backend.
For real stores using these features, see our Shopify Plus store examples.
How much does Shopify Plus cost?
Shopify Plus costs $2,300 per month on a 3-year term or $2,500 per month on a 1-year term in the US, according to Shopify's Plus plan page. For more complex, higher-volume businesses, Shopify may add a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model, and it differs for B2B and D2C.
The local price depends on billing currency: £1,800 per month (3-year term) in the UK, €2,100 in the EU and CA$3,400 in Canada. There are no setup fees, and Shopify charges no migration fee.
How much does Shopify enterprise cost?
Shopify does not publish a price for its Enterprise tier (Commerce Components); every contract is quoted individually. Its Help Center says only: "For information about Shopify for enterprise pricing, get in touch." Treat any article that lists an exact Enterprise fee as a guess.
How much does Shopify take from a $100 sale?
On Shopify Plus, Shopify takes $2.55 from a $100 online card sale through Shopify Payments (2.25% + 30¢), compared with $3.20 on Basic. If you use a third-party payment provider instead, Shopify adds 0.2% on Plus ($0.20 per $100) on top of that provider's own fees.
International cards add 1% on every plan. Rates are from Shopify pricing.
At volume, that rate gap pays for part of the plan. A store doing $10M a year online in 100,000 orders saves about $25,000 a year on card fees on Plus compared with Advanced (0.25% of revenue). That covers close to a year of the 3-year-term Plus fee.
What does it really cost to run Shopify Plus?
Running Shopify Plus costs Shopify's monthly platform fee plus from $15,000 for Shopify development or Shopify migration, from $2,000 per month for Shopify maintenance and support, and from $3,500 per month for Shopify CRO to grow revenue after launch.
Most enterprise brands do not need every service on day one, and a free scoping call with our team shows exactly which ones your store needs and what your project will cost.
These are starting prices, we quote every Plus project after a scoping call.
craftberry case studies:
Fast does not have to mean expensive.
We launched On Running's full Shopify Plus store in the UAE in 11 weeks, vivo's three European markets in 8 weeks and Glowforge's Plus rebuild in 7 weeks.
For a long-term view, Pepper cut development costs by 60% with an embedded craftberry team instead of building one in-house.

When should you upgrade to Shopify Plus?
Upgrade to Shopify Plus when you need something only Plus offers: custom checkout logic, Shopify Functions, more than 3 B2B catalogs, expansion stores, Combined Listings, or card fees low enough at your volume to offset the plan. If none of those apply, stay on Advanced at $299 per month. We would rather talk you out of Plus than have you pay $2,300 a month for features you will not use.
Signs you have outgrown Advanced:
- Your discount, shipping or payment rules need apps that break at checkout or cost $1,000+ a month.
- You sell wholesale and need company accounts, price lists and payment terms per buyer.
- You run, or plan to run, separate stores for regions, brands or wholesale.
- Your ERP or OMS sync hits API rate limits during peak sales.
- You need more than 15 staff accounts or 10 inventory locations.
When is Shopify Plus enough, and when do you need Enterprise?
Shopify Plus is enough for the large majority of enterprise brands, including multi-market, B2B and headless setups.
You need the Enterprise tier (Commerce Components) only if you require contractual SLAs, checkout throughput above standard Plus capacity, unlimited POS Pro locations, or Shopify components on top of a platform you are keeping.
Store count is not store capacity.
craftberry case study:
Shelly moved more than 500,000 customer records from Shopware to Shopify Plus and now sells in 100+ markets on two storefronts, without an Enterprise contract.
Can I have multiple stores with Shopify Plus?
Yes, Shopify Plus includes 1 main store and up to 9 expansion stores, managed from one organization admin. Each live expansion store needs its own theme license.
Many brands no longer need separate stores at all: Shopify Markets can run local currencies, languages and domains from one store, as Innermost did when it merged several storefronts into one.
Do I need Shopify Plus for B2B?
No, Shopify B2B is available on all plans, but non-Plus plans are limited to 3 B2B catalogs. Shopify Plus adds unlimited catalogs, catalogs assigned directly to company locations and B2B checkout customization.
In our experience, the hard part of B2B is not the plan but the ERP work: pricing, stock and payment terms must sync both ways. We have connected Shopify to SAP, NetSuite, Business Central, Navision and Odoo.
Is Shopify Plus worth it in 2026?
Shopify Plus is worth it in 2026 if your online revenue is high enough for the lower card rates and Plus-only features to return more than about $27,600 a year.
For most brands above $1M to $2M in yearly online revenue with B2B, international or custom checkout needs, it is. Below that, Advanced usually wins.
Shopify itself is still worth it in 2026 for enterprise brands. It was named a Leader in Gartner's 2026 Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce Platforms, ships more than 300 features a year and now sells through AI agents with Agentic Storefronts. The managed SaaS model removes the hosting, security and upgrade costs that drive TCO up on platforms like Adobe Commerce, which is why many brands migrate from Magento to Shopify.
How craftberry delivers Shopify Plus for enterprise brands
craftberry delivers Shopify Plus for enterprise brands with one in-house team that owns Shopify design, Shopify development, Shopify migration, integrations and Shopify CRO, so a full store launches in 7 to 11 weeks and keeps improving after launch.
These are four of our enterprise builds:
- Shelly, a global IoT brand: migration from Shopware to Shopify Plus, 500,000+ customer records moved, 100+ markets, 43% faster site. A later A/B test on bundle labels lifted conversion 11% and revenue per visitor 8%.

- vivo, a top-five global smartphone brand: Shopify storefronts for Germany, Austria and Hungary, delivered in 8 weeks with Global-e for local pricing, currency and duties.

- On, the Swiss running brand: full Shopify Plus store for the UAE launched in 11 weeks, with a custom theme, Combined Listings for color and gender variants, and ERP and 3PL integrations through MuleSoft and Gadget.

- Pepper, a US bra brand: Shopify Plus rebuilt 3+ times since 2018, 60% lower development costs, 30% higher conversion rate, new features shipped in 5 days on average.

If you are moving from another platform, see our Shopify migration service.
How we put this guide together
This guide combines Shopify's published plan data with what we have seen on our own Shopify Plus projects. We checked every fee, limit and feature against Shopify's own pages on 29 October 2026 and update the article when Shopify changes them.
- Shopify fees and plan limits come from Shopify's pricing page, the Shopify Plus plan page and the Shopify for enterprise page in the Shopify Help Center. US prices in USD unless stated otherwise.
- Commerce Components pricing is not published by Shopify, so we give no number for it rather than an estimate.
- Client examples and results come from our published case studies: Shelly, vivo, Glowforge, Pepper, On Running, Takomo, Innermost and Carpet Warehouse. A feature is linked to a client only where we built or configured it ourselves.
- Timelines and cost drivers reflect our delivered projects; final costs depend on scope, so we quote each build individually.
- The questions answered are the ones US merchants search for most about Shopify Plus and Shopify enterprise, based on Google's "People also ask" results and keyword data.
