Carpet Warehouse is an established UK flooring retailer operating in one of the most competitive home improvement categories. The brand has earned the trust of customers across the UK through thousands of positive reviews, nationwide delivery, and pricing that competes directly with major flooring chains.


Context

Before partnering with craftberry, Carpet Warehouse was operating on a headless Shopify setup hosted on Vercel.

When you hear “a headless setup”, you may often think about it as the ideal solution for large-scale eCommerce brands. This project became a strong example of the opposite.

A brand in this niche relies heavily on fast product discovery and has a large product catalogue.

The headless setup introduced additional technical complexity to Carpet Warehouse’s store.

Every content update required a developer deploy on Vercel. This operational overhead was not aligned with the day-to-day needs of a flooring retailer that regularly updates pricing, availability, and product details across a large catalogue.

The challenge was not about migrating away from another platform, but about rethinking whether the existing setup was still the right fit for the brand’s long-term growth.

Solution

After reviewing the existing setup, we rebuilt the storefront directly within Shopify.

Our team strategically planned every step to ensure the efficient rebuild.

We removed unnecessary architectural complexity and kept the functionality that mattered most for the customer experience.

A major part of the project required to recreate highly customised features from the previous setup.

This included advanced collection filtering with SEO-conscious URL structures, as well as a dynamic PDP calculator for different products.

The goal was to create a setup that was easier to manage, more scalable, and better aligned with the brand’s long-term growth.

This included an advanced filtering system that allows customers to browse by colour, width, pattern, type, material and more.

The product page calculator was rebuilt to match the way customers purchase carpet.

Customers select the roll width and the length they need, choose a backing type, and the calculator immediately shows the total covered area in square metres alongside the exact cost.

The MyBuilder integration was also preserved, giving customers the option to request a free installation quote directly from the product page before completing their purchase.

Redesign approach

Our UI/UX designers redesigned the storefront to improve how customers shop on the Carpet Warehouse Shopify store.

The team is aware of the specific home decor niche and knew the brand features large product collections.

Their focus was to make the whole purchase experience easier to navigate.

We rebuilt the product page calculator to remove purchase uncertainty at the point of decision.

On the collection page, we implemented comprehensive filtering option that makes is fast to discover the right carpet.
