Gligora started as a family business, building on a cheesemaking tradition dating back to 1918. Today, its 14 Cheese & Deli stores across Croatia sell the dairy's cheeses alongside cured meats, wine, olive oil, and gifts.

A range that had grown faster than the online store
As Gligora's range expanded beyond cheese, the online store became harder to navigate. With around 1,500 products, shoppers needed clearer paths through the catalogue.
We analysed Gligora's store, data, and brand, carried out a heuristic UX evaluation, and studied how other retailers organise large catalogues. We used the findings to define clearer navigation, structure the catalogue, and establish the store's visual direction.
We then carried this structure into the Shopify design and build.
Migrating Gligora's catalogue and store history to Shopify
For us, a Shopify migration is a data project before it becomes a design project.
- Products: around 1,500
- Orders: around 4,700
- Customer records: around 1,000
- Blog articles: around 20
This allowed Gligora to move to Shopify without rebuilding years of catalogue and customer data manually.
Existing URLs also needed attention. We mapped 301 redirects, addressed broken links, introduced 404 monitoring, and completed the foundational SEO setup. These measures were designed to help customers and search engines reach the relevant pages after the move.
We also configured Croatian, English, and German storefront content and automated invoicing for EU orders, supporting the practical requirements of selling across markets.

Making cheese, deli, and gifts easier to find
We built navigation around how customers shop for cheese, deli products, and gifts, applying Shopify CRO principles to product discovery.
The homepage introduces the main product categories, while collection pages use subcategories, filters, and sorting to help shoppers narrow their choices. For customers looking for a specific product, we redesigned search and results pages to make it easier to find.
On product pages, we organised information so shoppers can scan the key details before buying.
As a Shopify agency for food and beverage brands, we also connected products across the catalogue through relevant cross-sells: someone viewing Paški sir can discover wine, cured meats, and olives to serve alongside it.
We gave gifts and accessories their own navigation paths and grouped the wider deli range into categories such as cured meats, wine and spirits, and oils and vinegars.

Connecting the webshop with the dairy and physical stores
Our Shopify development work also connected the webshop with Gligora's dairy, tasting experiences, and physical stores.
We created dedicated content for its history, cheeses, tasting experiences, and guided dairy tours. The blog connects editorial content with relevant products, giving readers a route from learning about Gligora to exploring its range.
A store locator helps customers find the nearest of Gligora's 14 physical Cheese & Deli stores.

The new store gives Gligora more opportunities to turn demand for its cheeses into sales across the wider Cheese & Deli range.
